Alo Yoga Debuts Volumetric 3D Classes and Mixed Reality App on Meta Quest 3

Alo Moves, the on-demand wellness platform from Alo Yoga, is set to revolutionize fitness with a new mixed-reality app designed for the Meta Quest 3. Developed by the tech studio Magnopus, this app aims to be the first of its kind to integrate cutting-edge volumetric capture technology, offering an immersive fitness experience like no other.

The upcoming app will feature lifelike, 3D instructors who guide users through their workouts with unparalleled realism. These instructors will appear in a virtual environment, providing a seamless and engaging fitness journey. The app will be equipped with advanced room mapping and object detection, ensuring users can practice safely and comfortably in their own space. Users can look forward to two main modes that promise to redefine the future of fitness.

In the mixed-reality classes, users will engage in movement and mindfulness exercises led by photorealistic 3D instructors. These classes will take place in stunning virtual settings, such as mountain vistas or serene ocean scenes. The app will include a “mini-instructor” feature, allowing users to view poses and movements from various angles, enhancing their understanding and practice.

Aside from the mixed-reality experience, Alo Moves will continue to offer a vast library of 2D classes. This extensive collection will include yoga, Pilates, and mindfulness sessions in a traditional format, catering to different preferences and needs.

Natasha Trindall, General Manager of Alo Moves, emphasized the platform’s commitment to inspiring mindful movement and meditation. By partnering with Magnopus and Meta, Alo Moves is leveraging advanced mixed-reality technology to create an immersive wellness experience that can reach a broader audience and help people integrate wellness practices into their daily lives.

The Meta Quest 3 app will feature notable instructors such as Ashley Galvin, Annie Landa, Bianca Wise, Kirat Randhawa, and Susy Markoe Schieffelin. Users will have the ability to interact with these instructors in 3D, seeing each pose in high detail and from any angle, making it feel like an in-person class. The classes will range from five to twenty-four minutes, designed to fit various fitness levels and time constraints.

AJ Sciutto, Director of Virtual Production at Magnopus, described the development of the Alo Moves MR app as an inspiring project that pushes the limits of VR fitness. He highlighted that volumetric capture technology was chosen for its ability to create life-sized, detailed 3D figures, which enhances the user’s connection and understanding of movements, especially for beginners.

As Alo Moves prepares to launch on Meta Quest 3, users can anticipate a transformative fitness experience that brings their wellness routine to life in exciting new ways. Further details about the app’s final features and launch date will be announced soon.
