Latest Releases in Construction Technology In August 2024

As summer reaches its peak, construction workers are seizing the long days to maximize productivity on job sites. However, extending work hours isn’t the only way to make the most of the season. Recent advancements in construction technology are helping contractors work smarter and more efficiently. Here’s a look at some exciting updates and new offerings designed to streamline construction projects:

Canvas, known for its drywall robots, has introduced a new model—the 1200CX. This compact machine is designed for tighter spaces, including multifamily and tower construction jobs. Weighing 1,200 pounds and measuring 30 by 34.5 inches, the 1200CX can complete drywall tasks in a fraction of the time. It features all-wheel steering, runs all day on a single charge, and offers over-the-air software updates for continuous improvement.

GeoCue has launched its TrueView GO series, which includes the 16-channel 116S and the 32-channel 132S models. These devices integrate LiDAR scanning, cameras, and visual SLAM technologies to create real-time digital twins of environments. Ideal for surveying, civil engineering, and urban planning, TrueView GO allows users to capture georeferenced point clouds and adjust their surveys instantly, even in areas without satellite signals.

Buildots has unveiled a new feature that combines automated and manual task tracking into a single platform. This enhancement uses AI for automated progress tracking while allowing manual input for tasks needing human verification, such as quality assurance checks. This integrated approach aims to provide a more comprehensive view of project progress and performance.

One Click LCA has introduced a tool to help developers in California meet new sustainability benchmarks for non-residential buildings and schools. The CALGreen Tool integrates with Revit and energy models to simplify compliance with embodied carbon reduction regulations. It features a large database of material environmental product declarations and automates the reporting process, making it easier to document and meet California’s Green Building Standards Code.

Sage has rolled out new cloud-based innovations for its Sage Estimating software. The Sage BidMatrix platform enhances subcontractor selection and bid comparison, while a new web interface with Microsoft Power BI integration offers advanced analytics and real-time collaboration. These updates are designed to improve bid strategies and provide deeper insights into estimating data.

IMAGINiT Technologies has integrated Bluebeam’s software solutions with its Autodesk offerings, providing a unified platform for AEC professionals. This integration enhances project coordination, reduces paper usage, and improves communication with tools for creating, marking up, and sharing PDF documents.

Finally, Samsara introduced several new products aimed at enhancing physical operations. The Connected Training program offers data-driven, remote learning for the transportation sector. Connected Workflows digitize and streamline multi-step processes. Asset Tag helps track and manage small, high-value assets, while Smart Trailer features optimize trailer maintenance and improve safety and compliance.

These technological advancements are set to transform the construction industry, offering smarter solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity on job sites.
