China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd. recently introduced a new generation lightweight smart construction platform, marking a significant milestone in bridge construction. This platform successfully conducted its first jacking operation at the Libu Yangtze River road-rail bridge project in Jingzhou, central China’s Hubei Province, on January 3, 2025.
The Libu Yangtze River road-rail bridge spans 1,723 meters, with its main span reaching an impressive 1,120 meters. The north bank’s bridge tower stands 215.5 meters high, nearly equivalent to the height of a 70-story skyscraper. The project is a key infrastructure development aimed at enhancing connectivity in the region, particularly for road and rail transportation across the Yangtze River.
The innovative lightweight smart construction platform represents a leap forward in construction technology, providing enhanced efficiency, precision, and safety for large-scale infrastructure projects like the Libu Bridge. The platform’s use in the jacking operation for the bridge’s construction tower showcases its potential to significantly improve the speed and accuracy of complex building processes, particularly in challenging environments such as river crossings.
The aerial drone photos taken on January 3, 2025, highlight the impressive scale and technological advancements associated with the project, as well as the newly deployed platform at the north tower construction site. This breakthrough in construction technology promises to streamline bridge building, reducing both time and costs while ensuring the structural integrity of critical infrastructure projects.
The successful operation marks an important step in modernizing bridge construction practices, positioning China Construction Third Engineering Bureau as a leader in the integration of smart technologies into civil engineering.
