AM/NS India, the fourth-largest steel producer in India and a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, has launched a new color-coated steel brand, ‘Optigal.’ This patented product, originally developed by ArcelorMittal, arrives at a time when India’s annual consumption of coated steel is about 3.2 million tonnes, with this value-added segment growing faster than the broader steel market.
The new Optigal brand will initially be produced at AM/NS India’s Pune facility, with an annual production capacity of 700,000 tonnes. Plans are in place to scale production to 1 million tonnes as demand increases. The company aims to expand production to additional locations in the future.
In addition to Optigal, AM/NS India is considering introducing other products from ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel that are suitable for the Indian market. The company intends to regularly launch new products as part of its ongoing expansion strategy.
AM/NS India, a significant player in the Indian steel industry, focuses on producing high-quality steel products for various sectors including automotive, construction, and infrastructure. With its advanced manufacturing facilities, the company is dedicated to innovation and sustainability. The launch of Optigal reflects AM/NS India’s commitment to providing advanced steel solutions and supporting India’s industrial growth.
Leveraging the combined expertise of ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, AM/NS India is well-positioned to deliver world-class steel products that meet the evolving needs of the Indian market, reinforcing its role as a key contributor to the country’s steel industry and infrastructure development.
